Cafeteira Pingo is a tribute to a Brazilian way of preparing coffee using cotton filters. This method preserves the characteristics of the beverage and is suitable for both daily and gourmet coffee preparation. The simple and practical technique sparked curiosity and led to an analysis of the objects required for this type of coffee preparation. Among the analyzed items, a system composed of a self-supporting wire structure (stainless or chrome-plated) that supports a removable and washable cotton filter caught attention. Common in the State of Minas Gerais, these sets are responsible for excellent coffee, as they allow almost all stages to be controlled manually, unlike electric coffee makers. Although extremely practical and efficient, these sets revealed a potential for design that is still underexplored. This is because they do not visually communicate the quality of the coffee they can produce, which limits the potential and competitiveness of this type of product. Cafeteira Pingo emerged as a solution to this problem, as a product capable of conveying the idea that coffee prepared in cotton filters can meet the demands of a more discerning market, currently dominated by imported products. The goal of this project is to add value to the Brazilian way of preparing coffee and spread it to other cultures, much like the Italians did with the Moka coffee maker. The design of the Cafeteira Pingo focused on details to offer a product of excellent quality. Among these details, the cotton filter stands out, which in the Cafeteira Pingo assumes a conical shape, with a silicone ring and 3 dosing marks for beginners. This filter is fitted into a stainless steel or aluminum cone, which keeps the coffee warm, preserving its aromas, serving as a support to throw the coffee grounds into the trash, and improving the visual appeal of the coffee maker by hiding the filter, which can become stained over time. In addition to the stainless steel cone, some missing features in current systems were considered, such as a lid to protect the filter from dust and maintain the aromas and heat of the coffee in its place. Finally, the Cafeteira Pingo also has a base in enamelled steel (or cast iron) in various colors, a clear reference to the traditional coffee cups from the interior of Minas Gerais.
